Ghanaian artisan George Alfred Frempong handcrafts a mask offered as his interpretation of a humble man. The mask face is carved from sese wood with a domed forehead, pointed chin, and downcast eyes. Embellished aluminum plates decorate the cheeks and forehead, and the mask is painted in muted brown with golden yellow accents around the eyes. The mask is finished with a wash of clay to give it an aged look. A long, heavy fringe of jute strips form the mask's beard. The mask is intended as wall decor and would make an attractive conversation piece for your home or office.
