Details

Emerging from a pot, the figure of a woman with outstretched arms is crafted of Ghanaian sese wood, featuring a charming, antiqued finish. With a characteristically exaggerated head, this fertility doll represents an African tradition as they are often given to women who are hoping to conceive. Hand-carved by Winfred Korley, the sculpture wears beaded jewelry of colorful recycled glass.

Mr. Korley, I have purchased 2 of your carvings. Each one is unique and I am amazed how much detailing you can make out of wood. In addition, I love the colorful clothing on each sculpture.
