With this painting, Ghanaian artist Joseph Adibleku sends a message of self-acceptance, promoting the idea that self-expression "is paramount to living a successful life." Wearing a bright yellow dress, a woman struts proudly. Joseph paints in a style that blends cubism and expressionism, rendering his subject with a creatively exaggerated form against an abstract red background. Says Joseph, "face the fact of being what you are, for that is what changes what you are not."
