Khalid Ali evokes a vintage treasure with this beautiful wall mirror. Crafted by hand, the graceful frame is covered with repoussé flowers in embossed brass bathed in nickel. It is inlaid with colorful glass beads and backed with velvet.
Khalid learned repousse metal work, known as patra, or Indo Napoleon, from his father and uncle. It is one of the most popular Indian arts and Khalid has diligently worked at it for more than 20 years. He continues to grow artistically and has taught many of his family members and other artisans the vast array of skills needed to produce this distinctive form of Indian metalwork.
Khalid Ali has received 2 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $1000 and the most recent for $1800.
