Working on the traditional telar de cintura, or backstrap loom, Mexican artisan Balbina Mendoza hand-weaves this cotton backpack in the style of Oaxacan handicrafts. Stripes of black and burnt orange run down the bag, decorated with geometric diamond patterns in white and black. A zipper pocket on the back provides space for storing small odds and ends. Draped over the shoulders on two adjustable straps, this backpack opens with a tie closure beneath the top flap to a lined interior in black with a zipper pocket on one side.
