Details

Originated by the Akan peoples of Ghana, colorful kente cloth is the best-known of all African textiles. Kente cloth is woven in strips, which is how it came by its name (kente means "basket" in the Ashanti dialect). Ghana's Rachel Armah creates this colorful cotton blend scarf in cheerful shades of purple, saffron, brown and aqua.

In kente cloth, each color has a symbolic meaning: black symbolizes maturation and intensified spiritual energy; blue signifies peacefulness, harmony and love; green symbolizes vegetation, planting, harvesting, growth, and spiritual renewal; gold represents royalty, wealth, high status, glory, and spiritual purity; grey is for healing and cleansing rituals; maroon signifies the color of mother earth, associated with healing; pink and purple are associated with the female essence and female aspects of life; red symbolizes political and spiritual moods, bloodshed, sacrificial rites and death; silver is associated with the moon and represents serenity, purity, and joy; white is for purification, sanctification rites and festive occasions; and yellow represents preciousness, royalty, wealth, fertility, and beauty.

"Not as a expected"

icon star icon star icon star icon star icon star

I was so disappointed with this. While the colors are beautiful, the edges are frayed and coming apart. Its not one piece of cloth. Its 3 panels sewed together and they are so uneven.. There are threads coming out all over. I was going to purchase the purple one but this is just way too expensive. Ill have to take it to a seamstress to have it repaired.

"Stones are beautiful!"

I love these stones, but I have to confess that they are heavier than I can comfortably wear. Im so sad about that. Ive been thinking of putting them on a gold chain as a necklace because the stones are so very pretty.

I love the combination of colors and shapes. I have lots of earrings but none like these which get many compliments for their uniqueness. The craftsmanship is excellent.

These earrings can be seen when you wear them. The pink cats eye beads are beautiful . The picture doesnt really do them justice. These earrings are different than any others I have. If you want some pretty earrings that are unique then these are for you!
