Hand Made Resin Relief Panel, "African Welcome"
With a gracious style, a woman pours fresh water from a calabash jar into a gourd cup. "In the olden days, we received visitors with a drink of water to show they were welcome," Ghanaian artisan Henry Kwabena Ofori explains. He creates the image in a beautiful relief sculpture he names Akawaaba – "Welcome" in the Akan language. Mounted on a velvet wall panel, it is framed in sapele wood.
