Exemplifying the age-old weaving traditions of the artisan's home town of Teotitlán del Valle, Jose Mendoza from Mexico hand crafts this 100% wool Zapotec rug in shades of burnt orange, cerulean, navy blue, and dove grey. The wool is hand spun and then colored using all natural dyes derived from local plants such as indigo and cempasúchiles or marigolds. Frets in the design are inspired by those of the Zapotec culture which was established in the state of Oaxaca over 2500 years ago.
