Salomon Ruiz Goin skillfully recreates this stunning mask reminiscent of the Chavin nobility. The Chavin civilization is probably the oldest one to inhabit Peru, having lived there since around 400 BC. According to many, they are said to have laid the foundations for Peruvian culture. The Chavin are known for their production of musical instruments, metallurgy and textiles. Their particular art is characterized by abstract patterns that have symbolic meaning. The traditional accessories on this mask signify nobility.
