This richly-detailed round accent table is the original creation of Joseph Boateng in Ghana. Using traditional hand tools, he carves the table from native sese wood, with a pedestal depicting a bird with its head turned backward, taking an egg off its back. The bird represents the sankofa adinkra symbol, which translates to "reach back and get it". The tabletop features the same sankofa design etched into the surface, as well as a triangular border motif in red and white that is echoed on the table's base.
Adinkra symbols, originated by the Asante people in Ghana, are visual icons that represent a concept or aphorism.

"Unique accent table"
The sankofa accent table was specific to size. The red depicted in this picture looked more like maroon when i received it. It does however go with my decor therefore i will keep it. Thank you Joseph for sharing your talents with us.
