Zapotec Wool Runner with Small and Large Crosses (1x6.5), "Cultural Intersection"
$109.99The Zapotec weaving tradition to which artisan Gregorio Ruiz of Oaxaca belongs bears the stamp of both ancient customs and more recent European influences. The patterns and natural dye ingredients hark back to pre-Columbian times, but the use of sheep's wool and foot looms was introduced by the Spanish. This fringed Zapotec runner which Gregorio Ruiz crafts features wool that has been dyed lovely shades of alabaster, forest green, and brick using natural dyes. Larger crosses are bordered by horizontal rows of smaller crosses in the loom-woven runner's design. Ivory fringe adorns the ends of the colorful home accent piece.
